Description
Built in 1863 by A & W Reid of Elgin and Inverness, 2, Tomich was originally a single-storey terrace of three cottages. The cottages were designed as retirement housing for the Guisachan Estate, intended for rural workers such as a cowman and ploughman. They are now combined into a single dwelling. The construction is of harl-pointed rubble with dressed stone details. Numbers 1 and 2 retain their original central entrance doors, while the entrance to number 3 has been blocked. The windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing, and the roofs are slate-covered with overhanging eaves, topped by paired ridge stacks. A low front garden wall is also present. Records at Moray District Record Office (DAWP 1232/13-14) contain additional details.
