Description

A single-story terrace built in 1863 by A & W Reid of Elgin and Inverness, originally comprising three three-bay cottages, and now used as a single dwelling. The structure is of harl-pointed rubble, with dressed rubble detailing. Numbers 1 and 2 retain their original central entrance doors; the entrance to number 3 has been blocked. The windows are fitted with 12-pane glazing, and the roof is slate-covered with overhanging eaves, complemented by paired ridge stacks. A low front garden wall is also present. The cottages were constructed as retirement housing for the Guisachan Estate, intended for occupation by the cowman, ploughman, and other rural workers. Records relating to the building are held at the Moray District Record Office, Forres, DAWP 1232/13-14.
