Description

These are a pair of single-storey and attic cottages, built around 1863 by A & W Reid of Elgin and Inverness. They have two bays each, with the main entrance in the outer bay of each cottage. The cottages are constructed of harl-pointed rubble with tooled dressings, and the side walls are also harled. They feature original gabled timber porches decorated with lattice work and bargeboards. Each cottage also has a single, wallhead-gabled dormer window and a central, wallhead-gabled window, both also featuring decorative bargeboards. There are windows in the return gables, with varied glazing. The roofs are slate, with projecting eaves and a coped ridge stack. Undated drawings relating to the cottages are held in the Guisachan Estate plans at Moray District Record Office, Forres. The statutory address is 4 and 5 Tomich.
