Description

Tulloch Ard is a house dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, with additions and alterations made in 1871 by Alexander Ross. The house is harled with painted margins and has two storeys and three bays, constructed as a double pile building. A later addition matches the dimensions of the original house and extends the frontage. A slightly projecting gable sits centrally, with a corniced entrance and bipartite windows to the ground and first floors of the outer bays. A single piended dormer window survives in the original section, alongside some 12-pane windows; elsewhere, the windows are 4-pane. Corniced end stacks rise from the house, and it has a slate roof. A single-storey wing extends to the rear.

Inside the earlier section of the house is a curved staircase with a barley-sugar twist balustrade. To the west, the remains of a three-bay rubble cottage are visible, and it's thought this may have been a former manse. A rubble L-plan steading with a byre is also present on the property. An advertisement for tenders relating to the 1871 alterations appeared in the Inverness Advertiser on 8th September 1871.
