Description

The Royal Bank of Scotland on Leven Road in Kinlochleven is an early 20th-century, two-storey bank building with a single-storey extension at the rear and a canted bay window on the main south elevation. The building is constructed of red brick and features a projecting base course, moulded eaves cornice, and moulded window sills throughout.

On the south (principal) elevation, there is a round-arched entrance located to the left of the center, featuring a two-leaf, six-panel timber door with a fanlight above. Above this entrance is a single window, and to the left is a two-storey canted bay window. To the right, there are a pair of round-arched windows on the ground floor and a single two-light window above. A moulded brick string course runs above the ground floor, and there is a moulded terracotta floral band at the springing point of the ground floor openings to the right of the bay window.

The east elevation has a round-arched entrance in the center of the two-storey section on the right, also with a two-leaf, six-panel timber door and fanlight. To the left is a single round-arched window, and to the right is the single-storey, three-bay extension.

The south elevation features a blind end wall of the single-storey extension that projects forward to the left, with an entrance that has a boarded timber door to the right. There is also a single-storey stepped lean-to to the right, which includes two windows, one of which is a narrow light set back slightly. A single window is located at the outer right. Above the entrance is a stair window, with a single window to the left on the first floor and two to the right.

The west elevation shows a blind gable end of the two-storey section on the right, while the single-storey extension set back to the left has a two-light window on the outer left and two windows to the right.

The windows are mainly two and three-pane sashes, with multi-pane upper sashes in the two-storey section, except for the round-arched windows. The roof is covered with grey slate and features a red tiled ridge course that ends in finials. There are also a pair of ridge stacks with moulded brick cornices and round cans on the two-storey section.

Inside, there is an early glazed screen above the lower section of the internal wall that separates the front room to the right of the main entrance from the rear room and single-storey extension.

The front garden is enclosed by a low red stone wall with stone and concrete coping, topped with railings.
