Description
The Free Church in Uig, Skye, was built by Ross and Joass between 1860 and 1861. It is constructed of whitewashed rubble with painted margins and features a simple rectangular shape. A square tower is integrated into the west gable, rising one stage above the church and showcasing paired rounded windows on each side of the upper stage. The building is topped with a pyramidal slate roof that includes cast-iron brattishing.
At the base of the tower, there is a 4-centred arched entrance, along with three small round-headed windows at the base of the west gable. Above these, there is a pair of long similar windows and a quatrefoil window at the apex. The flanks of the church are simple and consist of three bays, with a vestry wing located at the rear, also featuring a slate roof.
