Description
Cawdearg is an 1820s single-storey and attic house, with later heightening, situated in Strathcarron. The main house is three bays wide, with a central door recessed behind a later timber porch. The exterior is of whitewashed rubble. Three dormers, each topped with a gablet, rise through the wallhead. The windows are 4-pane sashes, with end chimneys and a slate roof. An 1820s, two-bay gabled weaving shed extends from the east gable, also constructed of whitewashed rubble and covered with a corrugated iron roof. A byre and steading range is set at right angles to the west, also with a corrugated iron roof. The roofs are now corrugated iron, replacing what was originally thatch. Cawdearg is a representative example of a Strathcarron croft dwelling.
