Description
The Walled Garden at Beaufort Castle is an early to mid-18th century example, constructed as a large rubble walled garden. It is defined by roughly tooled ashlar coping along the top of its walls. The garden's shape is an irregular rectangle, with walls measuring approximately 800 yards (or about 861 metres) in total length, and a span of roughly 300 metres from east to west. The Statistical Account of 1794, page 519, provides additional details.
