Description
West Lodge at Beaufort Castle is an earlier 19th-century cottage, likely altered in the later 19th century. It is a single-story building with an attic, featuring three bays facing south. The exterior is constructed of coursed rubble, with dressings of tooled and polished ashlar. The central door is framed by a pointed architraves, slender nook shafts, and a hood mould. Flanking windows originally had four panes of glass, but these are likely later enlargements. The roof is slate, with projecting eaves and cope stacks. The attic space is lit by later 19th-century gabletted domes with simple six-pane, pointed-headed glazing.
