Description
Dated 1858, Home Farm Steading at Beaufort Castle is a large, south-facing ‘E’ shaped steading, largely of single storey or single storey with a loft. The central arm of the ‘E’ features a projecting single-storey range, comprising an implement shed to the west and stables to the east. The building is constructed of coursed rubble with tooled ashlar dressings.
The centre south-facing gable has a segmental-headed entrance on the ground floor, a loft door above, and a dated birdcage bellcote at the gable apex. The outer gable end bays contain single-storey dwellings with gabletted dormer attics.
The inner courts are linked by a segmental-headed archway; other accommodation includes byres, looseboxes, corn lofts and, at the rear, a free-standing smithy.
