Description

Dated 1871. Probably earlier core; additions and alterations,

Alexander Ross, 1870/71. Large rambling mansion; white

painted render, tooled long and short dressings. L-plan, with asymmetrical principal south and west elevations. Central

square tower rises above main roof, corbelled crenellated 1st

stage with large glazed roofed cupola and diminutive cupola

cap. Hoodmoulded bipartites, 1st floor south elevation,

crenellated wallhead parapet to south range with gabled

dormers; gabletted dormers to west range; end and ridge

stacks; slate roof.

Cast-iron sun room in SW re-entrant angle. Later single

storey addition to east.

Interior: panelling, doorpieces and imposing staircase all of

1870's date.
