Description
Beach House, located on the Ardtornish Estate, is a farmhouse built in the mid to later 19th century, likely incorporating earlier elements. It is a two-storey structure with a T-shaped plan and features a catslide roof. The exterior is constructed from squared and tooled sandstone courses, with barge-boarded overhanging eaves and projecting stone cills beneath the windows. The upper storey has broad gabled windows that break the eaves.
On the northwest (principal) elevation, there is an advanced gabled bay to the right, with single windows on both the ground and upper storeys. To the left, there is an advanced porch with a slated lean-to roof. The southeast (rear) elevation features an advanced gabled bay to the left, again with single windows on both levels, and an advanced bay to the right with a catslide roof. There is also an advanced porch with a pentice slated roof on the right side, leading to a door in the outer right bay.
The southwest (side) elevation has a gabled window that breaks the eaves, positioned above a wallhead stack to the left, along with windows in the centre and the outer left bay. The northeast (side) elevation shows a gable end with a catslide roof on the outer left advanced bay, and windows in the outer bays at ground level.
The windows throughout the building are timber sash and case, featuring 2-pane upper sections and plate glass lower sections. The roof is covered with grey slates and has lead flashing, with coped gable stacks.
Inside, the layout includes a hall leading to a central staircase at the rear, with apartments on the left and right, and a kitchen located at the rear right.
