Description
Clounlaid is a single storey and attic shepherd's cottage located on the Ardtornish Estate, dated 1866. The cottage faces east and features three bays, constructed of rubble with contrasting tooled ashlar dressings. The central door is flanked by windows, all under a continuous projecting roof that is supported by flanking cheeks, creating a protective verandah. There are three gabled dormers with 4-pane glazing.
On the north gable, there is an additional shelter verandah under the overhang of a piended slate roof, which includes a small store beneath a catslide roof that projects at the northwest and opens off the recessed shelter. A former byre extends from the south gable, featuring an off-centre door in the south elevation and enlarged double doors that fill the gable end. The cottage has coped end stacks and slate roofs.
