Description
Larachbeg Old Laundry, located on the Ardtornish Estate, is a building from the later 19th century, likely designed by Samuel Barham. It is a high single-storey structure with two bays and twin gables, featuring an entrance on the south return elevation. The exterior is finished in rendered concrete, with two large two-light windows on the east front, and multi-pane glazing throughout. The building has a central ridge stack topped with a pronounced cornice and is covered with slate roofs.
Inside, the laundry retains all its original fittings, including boiling "coppers," a spin dryer set into the concrete floor that is operated by a handle, six heated wall drying cabinets, sinks, and a stove for heating flat irons.
