Description
2 Larachbeg, located on the Ardtornish Estate, is an estate dwelling built in 1875 by Samuel Barham. This east-facing terrace consists of six two-storey dwellings arranged in twelve bays, all finished in rendered concrete. The design features projecting wide outer gabled bays, with entrances for numbers 1 and 6 located in the south and north return gables.
The central ten bays are symmetrical, featuring paired entrance doors with a shared central window and flanking three-light windows. Above, there are four first-floor windows and two blind windows, with hoodmoulds over the outer first-floor windows. These windows are generously sized, have wooden mullions, and include multi-pane glazing. A continuous slated wooden canopy, supported by curved wooden brackets, runs above the ground floor windows across the wide front elevation.
The outer bays are adorned with decorative bargeboards, and the building has three corniced ridge stacks topped with slate roofs. At the rear of the terrace, there is a long single-storey row of rendered concrete outhouses.
