Portree House, Home Farm Road, Portree, Skye

Portree House, located on Home Farm Road in Portree, Skye, was designed by James Gillespie (Graham) between 1806 and 1810. The building is constructed from coursed rubble with tooled dressings and features two storeys and an attic. It has three bays with a central door and a later square projecting porch. At the rear, there is a low single storey and attic range that forms a courtyard, which is connected to the main house by a two-storey quadrant.

The front elevation showcases wide angle pilasters, a moulded cornice, and a blocking course that is raised at the centre. It includes 12-pane glazing, two later canted dormers, and corniced end stacks, one of which dates from the later 19th century. The roof is finished with slate.

Inside, there is a fanlight above the inner entrance door and a simple circular stairwell featuring a cast-iron baluster with palmette detailing.
