Description
North Lodge at Cawdor Castle is a simple single-storey cottage from the 18th century, featuring three bays. The structure is built of rubble with ashlar dressings. It has chamfered door architraves, slightly enlarged windows, crowsteps, and corniced end stacks set diagonally on a slate roof with a stone ridge. The north gable includes an enlarged window and a slit apex attic light, which is incorporated into a section of the castle wall next to a plain, high round-headed arched entrance. There are a pair of studded doors leading to the archway.
To the west of the entrance arch, a coped section of the castle wall extends as a semi-circular recessed bay, which includes gunloops and a continuous stone seat from the 19th century.
