Description
This is an earlier 19th-century steading, located in Kiltearn Parish, which has been converted into a dwelling house. The building is constructed of rubble with rubble dressings. It is a low two-storey steading, originally arranged with three wide bays. A door, formerly leading to a stable, is present in the west bay of the south elevation. There are two ground floor windows, one of which was originally a byre door, with two smaller windows above. A forestair, leading to a first-floor door now glazed, is located on the west gable. A wing extends to the rear of the main structure. The building features multi-pane glazing and a slate roof with raised ventilation panels. Records from 1834 suggest this steading likely served as a new stable and byre. The building was sympathetically converted into a residential dwelling in 1981. Historic documentation, including the New Statistical Account and records from the Scottish Record Office, contains further details.
