Description
These are a pair of single-story cottages, likely dating to around 1875 and attributed to A & W Reid. They are situated to the rear of the steading at Guisachan Farm. The cottages have an irregular six-bay frontage constructed of grey rubble with tooled ashlar dressings. The left-hand outer bay features a single entrance flanked by three windows. A further doorway and window are located in the right-hand outer bay. Single attic windows are positioned within the return gables. The windows are fitted with 4-pane and 8-pane glazing. The roofline has coped ridge and end stacks. The cottages were originally designed as single ground and attic room dwellings for a grieve (gamekeeper) at the north end, and to the south, rooms comprising a kitchen and a large dining room for farm servants, with cook’s accommodation located above. Undated plans relating to the cottages are in the possession of the current owner.
