Description
2 Station Cottages, known as Fearn Railway Cottages, are a pair of single-storey, three-bay cottages built in 1878 by Murdoch Paterson, a civil engineer. They are constructed of whitewashed rubble with painted, tooled dressings. The central entrance is flanked by two-pane bipartites (windows divided into two vertically) in the outer bays. Each window has two panes of glass. The cottages feature corniced ridge stacks (decorative chimney features) and a slate roof with deep eaves (overhanging edges) and bargeboards (decorative boards along the roof edges). An advertisement for tenders appeared in the Inverness Courier on March 7, 1878.
