Description

This building, located at 1272, 1274, 1276, and 1278 Argyle Street in Glasgow, dates from around 1870 and is a four-storey tenement block situated between Radnor Street and Clayslaps Street. It features ten unequal bays, with an eight-bay facade facing Radnor Street and a three-bay return to Clayslaps Street. The structure is made of yellow sandstone ashlar.

The ground floor includes shops, and some original shop front details remain, including moulded basket arches. Above the ground floor, there is a cornice. The first floor has wide canted outer and central bays. To the west of the center, there are four paired windows, while to the east, there are three windows, with the center window being blind. The canted windows have roll-moulded arrises and are topped with consoled cornices. There is a cill course and architraves on the second and third floors, with simple cornices on the second floor. The main cornice features modillions, and a balustraded parapet is present in pairs.

The facade facing Clayslaps Street has three simplified bays, while the Radnor Street side is symmetrical, with two canted center bays above the ground floor.
