Description
39-41 Camphill Avenue is a four-storey tenement building designed by John C MacKellar in 1903. It is situated on a steep slope and features a long range of red ashlar stone, which is channelled at the ground level. The building showcases Renaissance-style ornamentation, including aedicules. Each range of the tenement is asymmetrical and has paired steps leading to two doors framed by Ionic-pilastered doorcases. The first floor features full-height canted windows with aedicules, along with single and three-light windows. The building has single wall-head stacks and deep-eaved slate roofs. Most of the original plate glass sash windows are still intact.
