Surgery, 24, 26 Bank Street, Glasgow

This building is a surgery located at 24 and 26 Bank Street in Glasgow, dating from around 1852. It is an astylar terrace of tenements that stands three stories high and features 18 bays, with a 12 bay return elevation facing 15-19 Glasgow Street that is similarly detailed. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar, with a channelled effect at the ground level and has been stone cleaned.

The main entrances are deeply recessed, featuring pilaster doorpieces with pilastered jambs and fanlights above. Above the doorpieces, there is a cornice and a band of blind arcade detail. All upper windows are architraved and corniced at the first floor. The first four bays, which belong to No. 20, also have pediments. The windows are sash style with 12-pane glazing. Additional architectural details include a band course over the ground level, a string course at the first floor cills, and an eaves cornice. The building has tall wallhead stacks with scrolled bases, axial stacks, and slate roofs.
