193-199 High Street, Kirkcaldy

This building, located at 193-199 High Street in Kirkcaldy, dates back to the earlier 19th century. It is a three-storey and attic classical tenement with eight bays, arranged in two groups of four, and features shops on the ground floor. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar stone.

On the south elevation facing High Street, there is a Greek Doric columned doorcase with a block pediment, a decorative cast-iron lamp bracket, and a panelled timber door with a plate glass fanlight positioned off-centre to the right. The flanking bays contain modern shop fronts. The first and second floors exhibit regular fenestration, and there are four slate-hung dormer windows above.

The windows have a 12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case style, while the dormers feature plate glass glazing in casement windows and fixed display windows on the ground floor. The roof is covered with grey slate, and broad, cavetto coped ashlar stacks with cans rise above.
