Description
27 Oakfield Avenue in Hillhead, Glasgow, is a pair of houses built around 1859. The buildings are two stories high, with attics and a basement, and they feature six bays. The exterior is finished in polished ashlar stone, which is channelled at the ground level and has been cleaned.
The central doorpieces are paired and designed in the Roman Doric style. The door at No. 27 is modern, while No. 29 has a deeply recessed tripartite door with pilastered jambs, sidelights, and a fan light. The upper windows are framed with architraves and are sash windows with six-pane glazing. There is a band course between the floors, an eaves cornice, and a blocking course at the top. The houses have axial stacks and slate roofs, with piended dormers that feature pilastered windows.
