Description
The post box on Nithsdale Drive in Glasgow was made by the Carron Company from Stirlingshire, as indicated by its embossed signature, and was erected in 1936. It is a columnar cast iron pillar box featuring a swept frieze beneath a shallow domed cap, which has a dentilled rim. The base is painted black, while the shaft is painted red. The door, located on the west side, has a cup handle and lock, and displays the cipher 'EVIIIR' in raised gothic lettering, with a crown above and the words 'Post Office' embossed below. There is a rectangular opening for letters above the door, and the phrase 'Next Collection' is embossed to the left above the letter opening.
