Description

This is a columnar pillar box made by the Carron Company in Stirlingshire, dated 1936. It features a swept frieze leading to a shallow-domed cap that has a dentilled rim. The box is made of cast iron, with the base painted black and displaying the manufacturer's embossed signature. The shaft of the pillar box is marked with "EVIIIR" in raised gothic lettering, which is topped with a crown, and has "Post Office" inscribed below.
