Description
81 Nithsdale Drive is a three-storey and attic tenement built around 1880 in the style of Thomson and Turnbull. This "Thomsonesque" building features a large curved front at the corner. The design includes a variety of details inspired by Alexander Thomson, although the overall composition does not match his quality. The exterior is made of light-coloured ashlar stone that has been cleaned, with a channelled ground floor and a central doorcase. The first-floor windows are corniced and connected by stepped moulding, while anthemia are set in panels between the second-floor windows. The building also has pedimented stone dormers above a deep parapet, which are adorned with anthemia. It features axial stacks and slate roofs, with ranges on either side that do not have attics and are constructed from darker stone.
