The Buttery, 646, 650, 652, 654 Argyle Street, Glasgow

The Buttery is a tenement building located at 646, 650, 652, and 654 Argyle Street in Glasgow, dated 1869. It is four stories high and has five bays, with the center bay being blank. The building features a single bay that curves at the west angle and has a gabled elevation facing School Wynd. The exterior is constructed of ashlar stone and includes channelled full-height pilasters at the corners above the ground floor.

On the left side, there is a late 19th-century pub frontage, while a shop occupies the right side. The blank center bay, which serves as the stair entrance, is adorned with masonry panels that display masonic symbols. The first-floor windows feature decorative masks, and the second-floor windows have bracketed cills, with a cill course on the third floor. All windows exhibit a six-pane glazing pattern. The building is topped with a modillion cornice and a die balustrade. Additionally, the pub door includes stained glass, and there are engraved glass fittings within the pub.
