Description

99, 101, 103, 105 West Nile Street in Glasgow is a three-storey commercial building designed by Alexander Thomson in 1858, showcasing Greek classical architecture. The ground floor features modern shops and the building has eight main bays. The first floor is distinguished by recessed T-pane glazing set within a corniced pilastrade, which includes Greek key incised necking and rosettes in the cornice. Above this, there is a plain entablature. The second floor has a geometric incised frieze situated below anta pilastrade with additional rosettes. The main entablature is adorned with an anthemion and palmette incised frieze, complemented by an eaves cornice and a blocking course that is raised to form a parapet in the outer bays.
