Description

Ruchill Parish Church, built between 1903 and 1905 by Neil C Duff, is a tall perpendicular Gothic church located on Shakespeare Street in Glasgow. The church features a west tower and nave gable, a shallow north aisle, and is accompanied by a janitor's house and halls to the south, which are listed separately. The exterior is constructed of stugged red ashlar with polished dressings.

The southwest tower consists of three stages with angle buttresses and a door on the west face. Each face of the tower has twin louvred and cusped belfry openings, topped with a crenellated parapet and panelled angle pedestals. The wide west gable is buttressed and includes three square-headed cusped bipartite windows at the ground level, along with a large five-light perpendicular traceried window above, adorned with crocketted angle finials. The north elevation is plain, featuring six cross windows at the gallery level. The south side showcases three gables with triple light windows for the gallery, while the east end is apsed. A covered passage connects the church to the halls.

Inside, the church includes a north aisle passage, a nave, south and west galleries, and an apse. The north side features a low shallow arched moulded arcade, while the south side has a tall round arched arcade, both supported by drum columns. The gallery front is arcaded, and the chancel arch leads to an organ in the apse and a panelled pulpit. The interior is enhanced by delicate Art Nouveau stained glass.
