Description

Circa 1875. Renaissance. 4-storey commercial building with modern shops at ground floor. T-pane casement windows arranged in groups of 3. Angled NE corner bay with projecting corniced bay window at 1st floor. Polished ashlar. Giant panelled angle pilasters flanking corner bay and in N bay with corniced wallhead stack over.

1st floor windows sculpted consoles, continuous cornices, panelled tympana, pilaster architraves. 2nd floor windows on cill band, flat pilaster architraves, corniced. Main entablature at 2nd floor with cornice. 3rd floor corniced margined windows, Eaves cornice, blocking course. Cast-iron parapet with brattishing. Corniced wallhead stacks to Gordon Street, panelled piers in attic to NW return.

RETURN TO UNION PLACE: 8 bays. Painted ashlar, cill bands to each floor, lugged, margined windows. Corniced wallhead stack. Parapet raised at ends.
