Description

Circa 1868. Commercial buildings of 2 phases. Maxwell

Street elevation: 4-storey and basement, 11-bay

warehouse. Ashlar, painted at ground. Pilastered

doorpiece at centre with fanlight, flanked by altered

windows. Further simple doorways in outer right bay

and 3rd bay from left. Frieze and moulded cornice

above; ground floor. Upper floors grouped 3-5-3, and

divided by giant pilaster strips cill or string courses.

Windows at 1st and 2nd floor with broad pilaster divides

and flanking architraved, round-arched bipartites at 3rd

floor. Deep moulded eaves cornice. End stacks. Slate

roof.

Sash and case windows, plate-glass glazing to lower

sashes and 2-light to upper at 1st and 2nd floor.

Decorative iron railings to aprons of ground floor

windows and basement openings.
