Description

Circa 1855. 3-storey classical tenement on corner.

Remains of larger block. 3 storeys (basement to Clyde

Street), later attic. 5 x 11 bays, arranged 3-8 on Dixon

Street. Polished ashlar, channelled at ground floor and

basement. All windows sash and case in architraves, some

12-pane glazing. Ground floor level band-course, 1st and

2nd floor cill band.

5 X 3 BAY CORNER SECTION: former end pavilion. Doric

pedimented portico at head of stair to Clyde Street;

Roman Ionic pedimented doorpiece with steps up to Dixon

Street. Ground floor windows corbelled aprons, consoled

with continuous cornice breaking forward over windows,

1st floor windows console pedimented, 2nd floor recessed

architraves, dropped. 2nd floor entablature, dentil band

cornice. Die parapet.

8-BAY N SECTION TO DIXON STREET: console corniced

entrances to Nos 3 and 5. 1st floor windows console

corniced. 2nd floor windows as Clyde Street. 2 N dormers.

Slate roof. Corniced axial stacks with decorative pots.
