Description

Dated 1888, Long, narrow 2-storey commercial/office building with classical details, widening in plan from N to S fitting awkward site of railway line and road. Painted ashlar channelled at ground, base course, ground floor lintel course and cornice, moulded canopy, eaves cornice and blocking course, raised window margins at 1st floor.

W (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: panelled aprons to windows at ground. 3 windows at centre (that to left with lowered cill); fanlit door flanked by windows to right; door in penultimate left bay with window (lowered cill) in outer left. 7 windows at 1st floor (grouped 2-2-3) with shouldered, scroll flanked, corniced and dated wallhead stack between centre and right group.

N ELEVATION: very narrow, blank at ground with window at 1st floor.

S ELEVATION: partial height stair extension with barred window to right of centre at 1st floor.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case windows. Graded grey slates to piend and platform roof. Coped and shouldered wallhead stacks with scroll decoration.
