Description

Probably John Milne, circa 1880. Single storey, cruciform-plan gabled lodge with turret-roofed porch. Squared and snecked dressed rubble with polished ashlar dressings. Eaves cornice to porch. Pointed-arch doorway with voussoirs; stop-chamfered arrises and stone mullions.

E (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: advanced gable with window in bay to right, round turret-roofed porch with panelled timber door and ball and spike finial in re-entrant angle to left.

S ELEVATION: projecting gable to centre with slightly advanced bipartite window below battered coping, round porch (see above) with narrow light in re-entrant angle to right, and flat-roofed extension in re-entrant angle to left.

W ELEVATION: advanced gable to centre with door to right and bipartite window to left, flat-roofed extensions in flanking re-entrant angles.

N ELEVATION: slightly advanced centre gable with window to right.

Plate glass glazing in timber sash and case window to porch, top-opening timber windows elsewhere. Graded grey slates with fish-scale band to turret. Coped ashlar stack with cans at crossing, ashlar-coped skews and moulded skewputts.

BOUNDARY WALLS: ashlar-coped squared-rubble boundary walls with broad stepped gatepiers.
