Description
The Ramornie Policies Bridge, dated 1808, is a single-span, segmentally-arched bridge spanning the River Eden. It exhibits classical detailing and was constructed from rubble with droved ashlar voussoirs and polished dressings. The arch is flanked by panelled pilasters, and a low, straight parapet is decorated with circular recesses towards its outer ends. Splayed approaches are defined by simple cast-iron columns, originally linked by chains, set on stone coping. The bridge formerly served Ramornie House, which has been demolished. The statutory address is Ramornie Policies Bridge over Eden.
