Description
Orchard House is a late 18th century two-storey house, located in Balmalcolm village. It was extended to the northeast by one additional two-storey bay, likely in the early 19th century. The original house has an irregular four-bay frontage, with a central door set within a gabled timber porch. The fenestration is also irregular, with three enlarged twelve-pane sash windows on the first floor. The original section has straight roof skews, corniced end stacks, and a slate roof. A single-storey rubble-built wing extends from the southwest gable towards the northwest, forming an L-plan. This wing is harled on its northeast elevation and features door and window openings, originally covered by a pantile roof, which has since been replaced with modern tiles over the two northwest bays.
