Description
Dated 1834, this building comprises a single-storey, four-bay school and a single-storey-and-attic, three-bay schoolhouse that adjoin each other. The school is constructed of coursed, squared whin rubble with contrasting long and short ashlar dressings. It features an off-centre gabled porch with a door set in the re-entrant angle, and windows with 30 panes per sash. The schoolhouse has a centrally placed recessed panelled door with a rectangular fanlight above. A new opening has been inserted to the right of the door. The ground floor of the schoolhouse has 12-pane sashes in the outer bays, while the upper floor features 9-pane sashes, each with a gabled dormer head above. The roof is slated with corniced end stacks, and straight skews. Two axial roof vents are above the school.
