Description
This is a pair of houses built in the mid-19th century, located at 7 Main Street, Kingskettle, and known as Inchyra and Sunnyside. They are two storeys high and each has three bays. Inchyra is constructed of snecked and squared ashlar (carefully cut stone blocks) while Sunnyside is built of rubble stone, both using whinstone as the primary material. Both houses feature contrasting long and short yellow ashlar dressings, which are decorative elements around the windows and corners. Each house has a centrally positioned recessed panelled door with a fanlight above it, and 12-pane sash windows. The roofs are slate-covered, with corniced end stacks (decorative chimney features). The buildings were not depicted on the first edition Ordnance Survey map of 1854.
