Crown Hotel, Crown Square, Kingskettle

The Crown Hotel, dating to approximately 1800, is a single-story building with alterations, originally consisting of three bays, and later extended by a bay to the east which features a curved end wall. The exterior is pebble-dashed and has rendered margins. A central door leads into the building, and plate glass sash windows, likely enlarged in the late 19th century, are present; the additional bay has an 18-pane sash window. There are two windows in the gable end. The building has narrow eaves, a band, corniced end stacks, a modern tile roof which retains a slate easing course, a wall-head stack to the curved end wall, and a felt roof over the additional bay. The building forms a group of buildings with number 6, 7, and 8 Crown Square. The original frontage of the hotel onto Main Street is not included as part of the listed building.
