Description

The Boathouse at Gilston House was designed by the architects Gillespie & Scott of St Andrews and built in 1899. It is a rectangular structure featuring a verandah on all sides and a small chamber above. The boathouse is timber framed with horizontal boarding resting on an ashlar base. There is a lintelled boat opening with a valance on the west side and a door on the east side. The verandah above is balustraded, and the principal posts are shaped above the balustrade, supporting a pyramidal slate roof.
