Description

Julian Memorial Hall, located at 9 St Leonard's Place in Kinghorn, is a former mill building dating from around 1838. This three-storey structure, which includes a part basement, has a flat-iron shape and is situated on a prominent corner site with steeply sloping ground. The exterior features squared and coursed rubble, dry-dash with droved ashlar margins, and quoin strips, along with a base course and relieving arches.

On the northwest elevation facing St Leonard's Place, there are three tall bays to the left of the center, with a door located to the outer right at ground level and three regularly spaced windows on each floor. The lower bays to the right include a door to the outer left at ground level and two windows on the first and second floors, grouped toward the center.

The southwest elevation has a gabled design with a crenellated, polygonal porch to the right at ground level, featuring a door to the west and a pointed-arch window to the south. Above this, there is a small bipartite window in the center and two windows on the second floor.

The northeast corner elevation consists of a single bay with a window at ground level and one window on each floor above it. The south elevation presents a tall, narrow gabled design with a stone finial, a blank basement, a window to the right at ground level, and two windows on each floor above.

The east elevation, known as South Overgate, features regular fenestration across its six bays, with a door located in the bay to the left of center in a raised basement.

The building primarily has four-pane and twelve-pane timber sash and case windows, with some modern glazing on the first floor of the northeast and northwest elevations (in the two left bays) and the east elevation. The lower block is covered with slate, while modern tiles are used elsewhere. The roof features ashlar stacks with some chimney cans and ashlar-coped skews.

The property is enclosed by coped rubble boundary walls.
