Description
Building 8, known as the Old Sergeants' Mess, is a single-storey, 15-bay Georgian Revival structure built around 1935, located at the entrance to the domestic side of RAF Leuchars. Originally designed in a U-plan, it has undergone later additions to the rear. The exterior features cream harled brick with moulded round-arched doorpieces that have keystones, a base course, and projecting cills. The central section is advanced and has a pediment with an oculus window at the apex, flanked by advanced 3-bay end bays. The entrance includes part-glazed, two-leaf timber doors located in the 6th and 11th bays, topped with semicircular, decoratively glazed fanlights. The glazing is non-traditional, and there is a near ridge stack to the right. The roof is covered with grey slate.
Inside, the space is simple, functional, and has been modernised.
