Former Barracks Blocks, Domestic Side, Raf Leuchars

The former barracks blocks on the domestic side of RAF Leuchars were designed by Lieutenant JGN Clift of the Royal Engineers around 1918. This group consists of three gabled barracks blocks arranged in parallel. Each block is a single storey with an eight-bay rectangular plan, featuring a distinctive full-length raised central area on the roof that includes clerestorey windows. The exterior is made of rendered and painted brick, with bays separated by buttresses. There are lean-to porches on the north elevation, and the roofs are covered with corrugated metal. The ground floor and clerestorey windows have been replaced with non-traditional modern windows. The interior has been modernised.
