Description

Arran Barracks, located at RAF Leuchars, consists of four barracks blocks built in 1935, with one block dated 1936. This two-storey group features an 11-bay Georgian Revival design arranged in an L-plan, facing what was once a parade ground, now a car park. The exterior is finished in cream harl, accented by moulded sandstone architraves around the entrance doors, a base course, and projecting cills. The central section is slightly advanced and has a pediment with an oculus window at the apex. At the rear, there is a central lower two-storey outshot. The entrance includes two-leaf six-panel timber doors topped with five-light rectangular fanlights, although the glazing is non-traditional. The roof is covered with grey slate.

The interior of building number 5, as observed in 2007, is simple, functional, and has been modernised.
