Description
The Grange is a house dating from 1790, with alterations to the east end made in 1914. The original part is two storeys and an attic, built of whin rubble with widely droved ashlar dressings. It features a four-bay front, with an off-centre-right pilastered doorpiece and an off-centre-left two-storey canted window. A further projecting bay extends from the west side of the ground floor window. The original first floor has three windows, and there are three piended dormers in the slate roof. To the east is an addition with a later projecting ground floor, a projecting two-part window above with a pitched slate roof, and a decorative angle stack.
The house was built by Adam Wilson, who was the factor to James Calderwood Durham Esq of Largo House. It was known as Bayview in 1809. The doorpiece is similar in style to number 8.
