Description
The Anchorage, located at 1-2 Shore Road in Dysart, is a 2-storey and basement, L-plan crowstepped house dated 1582 and reconstructed in 1965. The building is harled with painted margins and features corbelled detailing.
On the north elevation facing Shore Road, there is a door to the left of center, with an adjacent window to the right and a swept-roof dormer window above that breaks the eaves. A boundary wall is located to the outer right.
The east elevation, known as Hie Gait, has a slightly advanced crowstepped bay to the right, featuring a corbel table at the ground floor that steps up to another corbel at the outer right, with a window at the first floor. To the left, there is a bay with a dated lintel over a door, flanked by windows, and a window above to the right below a short corbel table. There is a further window above with a corbel table extending to the outer left, and a boundary wall adjoins at the ground floor left.
The west elevation features two windows on each floor, including the raised basement, within a crowstepped gable to the left.
The south elevation is largely obscured by boundary walls but includes an advanced gable to the right, a dormer gablet with carved stone depicting ropework moulding over an upturned anchor that breaks the eaves at the center, and a swept-roof dormer window to the left that also breaks the eaves.
The windows are timber sash and case with a 12-pane glazing pattern, and the roof is covered with grey slates. The harled stacks have a full complement of cans. The boundary walls are coped and also harled.
