Description

Dated 1582; reconstructed 1965. 2-storey and basement, L-plan crowstepped house on ground falling to S. Harled with painted margins. Corbelled.

N (SHORE ROAD) ELEVATION: door to left of centre with adjacent window to right and swept-roof dormer window (see Notes) breaking eaves above; boundary wall adjoining to outer right.

E (HIE GAIT) ELEVATION: slightly advanced crowstepped bay to right with corbel table at ground floor stepped up to further corbel at outer right, window at 1st floor. Bay to left with dated lintel over door with flanking windows, and window above to right below short corbel table, further window over with corbel table extending to outer left; boundary wall adjoining at ground floor left.

W ELEVATION: 2 windows to each floor, (including raised basement) in crowstepped gable to left.

S ELEVATION: largely obscured by boundary walls, but with advanced gable to right, dormer gablet with carved stone depicting ropework moulding over an upturned anchor breaking eaves to centre and swept-roof dormer window (also breaking eaves) to left.

12-pane glazing pattern in timber sash and case windows. Grey slates. Harled stacks with full complement of cans.

BOUNDARY WALLS: coped harled boundary walls.
