Description
This is a 1852-dated steading, situated at Lathrisk Home Farm, and accompanied by flanking steading wings and garden walls and gate piers to the south. The main house is a two-storey and attic structure, five bays wide, built in a simplified classical style using ashlar. A central panelled door is topped by a fanlight, with the ground floor windows featuring plate glass sashes and the first floor windows having broad margins and cornices. An additional door is located to the right. The building includes a panelled band course above the ground floor, a cill course to the first floor, a cornice, and a blocking course. A steep pediment with an oculus sits above, along with two gabled wall-head dormers. Corniced end and axial stacks rise from the slate roof. The west steading wing is ashlar with a slated roof, while the east wing is constructed of rubble with a pantile roof. The house is linked to a walled, rectangular garden to the north, featuring red brick walls (with some upper courses rebuilt) and buttresses with ashlar dressings and flat coping, along with rusticated ashlar angle piers. A panelled wooden gate is positioned on the north wall. Within the walls, a derelict glasshouse stands, exhibiting an ashlar base and wrought-iron finials. Corniced, square, rusticated ashlar gate piers mark the main entrance, connected by quadrant walls.
