Description
Lathrisk Home Farm is a large farmhouse dated 1852, built in a simplified classical style. It is two storeys and has an attic, arranged over five bays. The building is constructed of ashlar stone. A central panelled door is topped by a fanlight, and the ground-floor windows have wide margins and cornices. There is an additional door to the right. The ground floor has plate glass sashes while the first floor windows are 12-pane sashes. A panelled band course runs above the ground floor, and a cill course sits below the first-floor windows. A corniced blocking course tops the building, which is finished with a steep pediment featuring an oculus. Two gabled dormers are set into the roof. Corniced end and axial stacks rise from the roof, which is covered in slate.
Flanking the farmhouse are single-storey steading wings. The western wing is of ashlar construction with a slate roof, while the eastern wing is built of rubble with a pantile roof. The farmhouse is linked to a walled, rectangular garden to the north, enclosed by red brick walls. The upper courses of the walls have been partially rebuilt, and the walls feature buttresses with ashlar dressings and flat coping, along with rusticated ashlar angle piers. A panelled wooden gate is set into the north wall. Inside the walls stands a derelict glasshouse with an ashlar base and wrought-iron finials. The main entrance is marked by corniced, square, rusticated ashlar gatepiers, connected by quadrant walls.
